Gene Anderson learned to fix shoes and boots from his uncle Raymond in Globe, AZ. After he married his high school sweetheart, Gene was looking to support his new wife when heard the story of a shoe repairman in Flagstaff who went to jail for murder so he came up here to see about the abandoned shop. The local sheriff sold him the shoe repairman's inventory. That was it. Gene's Shoe Hospital was born. It wasn't long before Gene was filling orders for fine new boots, hats, rodeo gear and horse tack.

People all around came to know Gene as the man for all their rodeo and working cowboy needs. Now, locals and travelers from all around the world rely on Gene's Western Wear for the very best inventory to help them maintain or "cowboy up" their spirited lifestyle.

The family tradition lives on. Gene's son Gary Anderson and his wife Verlee are now the proud proprietors of Gene's Western Wear. Gene's granddaughter Karyn is the general manager.
